"It was a perfect storm."
During the museum design phase, we uncovered dozens of items from the '70s and '80s that looked too good to ignore. It was also at that time that a new 36 fork was to be introduced and it needed a unique concept to make it completely different than anything else on the race course. It also just happened to mark the 40 year anniversary since Bob's first moto air shock was introduced into the world.
Inspired specifically from the original 1979 motocross fork graphics, I used the rainbow stripe element and turned the new 36 into an iconic suspension product and campaign.
This design soon made it's way into the rest of product line and beyond (Bicycle and Power Vehicles division) , taking FOX from a prior "black and white" branded company to what would become "Orange is the New Black."
